A convenient and simple procedure for the synthesis of some quinoxaline derivatives was developed via a reaction of oaryldiamines and 1,2-dicarbonyl compounds in the presence of Zeolite NaY as an efficient catalyst. The reactions were carried out at room temperature in ethanol and catalyst reused for several times. This method has many appealing attributes, such as good yields, short reaction times, and simple work-up procedures. Also the synthesis of quinoxaline derivatives was carried out in the presence of HY Zeolite under the same conditions and the results were discussed.
