Teaching writing skills in a foreign language is a difficult task since it requires more than conventional techniques. Writing represents an individual's way of thinking. Grammar and style are important in writing, but it is also necessary to focus on the value that flows through every sentence and paragraph. It is regarded as an ignored skill in the process of teaching English in Iraqi schools and as a result, Iraqi learners are not well prepared to write. Therefore, the present study is an attempt to examine the effect of the CoRT program on the writing skill of third-year university students at the College of Education, University of Babylon, during the academic year 2022–2023.To achieve this aim, a sample of 60 students in fourth grade in (the College of Education) in Babel, Iraq (2022- 2023) was selected based on convenience sampling. They were assigned into control and experimental groups in which learners in the experimental group received the CoRT program while learners in the control group were taught through the traditional approach. To analyze the data, the present study adopted the experimental design: Pre-Post-Tests control groups. The results reveal that there was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group. Also, students' motivation had a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. Finally, the results were discussed and some implications for teachers and students were provided.
