There has been a widespread usage of interlocking walls in recent constructions because of providing economic and environmental benefits; thus, it is highly possible that these flourished walls enter the construction industry of Iran in the near future. Therefore, this study has focused on assessing the seismic performance of six innovative dry-stacked interlocking walls with different interlocking keys as non-structural elements in typical buildings. To this purpose, firstly, the in-plane capacity of interlocking walls was numerically extracted. Secondly, the bilinear curves were obtained and the behavior factors of interlocking walls under different loading conditions were computed. Afterward, two power equations were derived for calculating the behavior factors of dry-stacked interlocking walls based on the desired applied vertical load. Lastly, the seismic performance of walls was evaluated in different stories of a typical building based on the Iranian seismic design code through force-based method. It was found that Tanzanian, Thai and Auram walls can be used in different height levels of a four-story building. Solbric and Hydraform walls should not be constructed in very high seismic regions in Iran. The results also showed that Putra wall can be implemented in all stories of a typical building in low seismic areas of Iran.
