In this study, a green and biocompatible cobalt nanocatalyst complexed on magnetic copper ferrite nanoparticles (CuFe2O4@GT-Co) was designed and synthesised using green tea extract, with the objective of contributing to environmental improvement. Subsequently, the structure of the synthesised green nanoparticles was identified and confirmed, and their physical properties characterised, through the application of various analytical techniques, namely FT-IR, XRD, TGA, FE-SEM, EDX, ICP and VSM analyses. Subsequently, the nanocatalyst was employed to reduce nitrophenol compounds to aminophenols. The findings indicated that the nanocatalyst demonstrated the capacity to reduce 4-nitrophenol (concentration of sodium borohydride: 0.05 M, doses of adsorbent mg and contact time: 60 s) and 3-nitrophenol (contact time: 60s) compounds, with the rate constant reported as 0.032 s⁻¹ and 0.0098 s⁻¹, respectively. Additionally, the nanocatalyst can be reused in five reduction reaction cycles. The reusability and recyclability of the nano adsorbent were also investigated, with the experiment conducted at the optimal concentration. Then the sediment was separated using an external magnet and washed several times with ethanol and double distilled water. The sediment was dried in an oven at 75 degrees for 24 hours. This process was repeated 5 times. The results showed that our synthesized nano adsorbent has a good ability to remove rhodamine dyes and lead ions in aqueous solutions.
