Managers need to measure and apprise the performance of divisions in order to plan, control and increase the organization efficiency. The purpose of this study was to performance appraisal of the provinces in championship sports, using data envelopment analysis approach. The present research is descriptive-analytical and has been conducted in the field research method. The population and statistical sample of the study were equal and included sports organizations in 30 provinces. Data related to provincial championship sports and economic, geographical and social factors were collected using library research method. The Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA)- Anderson-Peterson approach- was used to rank the sports performance of the provinces. The efficiency score of each province in championship sports is calculated considering the number of gold, silver and bronze medals won by each province as output, and GDP, climate, Gini coefficient and life expectancy as input in this model, which can be a criterion for ranking provinces.
