Abstract

ABSTRACT Zeolites are crystalline aluminosilicate and efficient materials for a large number of modern chemical processes in the industry. However, diffusion limitations for zeolite not only lead to a negative influence on catalytic activity but also cause a loss in selectivity and a reduction in the lifetime of the catalyst. During the last decade significant efforts have been devoted to developing of micro–mesoporous zeolite materials which are also referred to as mesostructured zeolites. Micro–mesoporous materials have been emerged as an important class of catalytic materials, which has significant number of advantages with respect to both zeolites and ordered mesoporous materials. The objective of this chapter with note to rapidly growing of hierarchical materials is introducing micro-meso zeolite structure and also considering different methods for its preparation. In addition, some important methods including XRD (wide and low angle range), SEM, TEM, BET and Thermal analysis are discussed to characterize the micro-meso structure of zeolite. Also, other different methods are introduced to characterize acid sites of zeolite, which provide a comprehensive view of morphology and crystallinity of hierarchical structure in connection with deep characterization of the quality of acid sites. Finally, some important organic reactions were considered, which found higher yield and selectivity in the presence of micro-mesoporous zeolite materials.
