Abstract

A useful reaction in organic chemistry is the N-formylation of amines to give formamide derivatives. Formamides have been used as intermediates for the synthesis of many pharmaceutical compounds such as fluoroquinolones, substituted aryl imidazoles, 1,2-dihydroquinolines [1,2] and are also useful reagents in Vilsmeier–Haack formylation reactions [3]. Zeolites have been used as heterogeneous catalyst in many organic reactions. In this work, we first Preparation MCM-41 and HY zeolite and then, zeolites has been functionalized by trimethoxysilyl propyl amine. Then, the amine group has been sulfonated by chloro sulfonic acid. All steps have been characterized by FT-IR, XRD, SEM. All analysis informed that the catalyst has been synthesized successfully. The FT-IR spectra of (MCM-41 - HY@ NH2@SO3H) shown in Fig. 1(a,b) After the characterization of the catalysts, their catalytic activity was evaluated for the synthesis of formamids and reused for the next reactions at least for 5 runs without significant change in catalytic activity. The results are demonstrated in Table 1. Fig.1 (a,b) Table 1.
