عنوان Design of the Neutron Scintillator Converter for Neutron Radiography, using Monte Carlo Simulation Method

چکیده The use of scintillation materials such as LiF-ZnS(Ag) is one of the methods of detection of neutrons in radiography techniques. In this work, the thickness and mass of component of this neutron scintillation converter (LiF-ZnS(Ag)) were optimized. This converter is coated on a sheet of Aluminum as a thin layer with dimensions of 25*20*D (cm) that D is the thickness of converter. This optimization was done for neutron radiography facility of research reactor of Tehran Nuclear Research Center (TNRC) as a neutron source. Monte Carlo method in a FORTRAN programming was used for computer simulation that in which the history of 100000 neutrons entered the converter was investigated and the number of photons reach to the radiographic film was counted. The best thickness and mass ratio of components of this converter (400 µm thickness and 7:3 mass ratio of LiF to ZnS(Ag)) were selected by plotting the number of detected light photons in surface unit versus these variables.
