This study investigated the relationship between attitude and motivation toward speaking skill of a sample group of students in an institute in Aligoudarz. The purpose of the study was to find out if motivation and attitude contributes equally to speaking skill of Iranian EFL learners. To this end, a sample group of EFL learners, including 60 intermediate learners in an institute were selected to act as participants of the study. To collect the needed data, at first an Oxford Placement Test (OPT) was used to measure the proficiency level of the students. Then, a PET speaking test was administered by the researcher through interview to evaluate the level of speaking in students. Finally, the data on the value of learners’ motivation and attitude was collected by Attitude/ Motivation Test Battery (AMTB). For analyzing the data in this study, Statistical Package for Social Sciences (25) was conducted. Based on the results, EFL learners’ motivation and speaking skill are positively related with a moderate correlation. The analysis showed that there is a moderate positive relationship between EFL learners’ Attitude and Speaking skills scores. The finding also indicated that motivation contributes more than attitude to speaking skill of Iranian EFL learners. As a conclusion, motivation has stronger effect on learners’ speaking performance than attitude.
