Abstract

Abstract Background & Aim: An increase in malondialdehyde and a decrease in the total antioxidant capacity associated with high blood glucose, insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes causes damage to the testicular tissue and structure. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different aerobic training intensities on serum levels of malondialdehyde, total antioxidant capacity and testicular structure in diabetic male rats. Materials and Methods: This experimental study, 18 Wistar rats with an average weight of 206 ± 35 grams were randomly assigned into three groups: healthy control, control of diabetic, diabetic resistance training. The training groups trained the exercise program for 10 weeks by ladder and collected on blood serum and testis tissue in rats after the last training session. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey post hoc test at a significance level of 0.05%. Results: Resistance training significantly reduced fasting blood sugar, insulin resistance index, MDA and significantly increase TAC in diabetic resistance training group compared to diabetic control group (P≤0.05). Resistance training improved testicular structure especially semen volume, total testicular volume, interstitial tissue volume, semen diameter and left testicular weight in diabetic training groups compared to diabetic control group (P≤0.05). Conclusion: It seems that resistance training by reducing the blood glucose, insulin resistance index and serum levels of MDA and increase TAC, a positive impact on improving the structure of the testes of rats diabetic by streptozotocin-nicotinamide.
