خلاصه: Textbooks for teaching English are influenced by the culture of countries. In the country of Iraq, due to the fact that the people are Muslim and there are cultural restrictions, there is a need to conduct research on the way of gender representation in books. For this purpose, in this research, A Comparative Study of Representation of Gender in Iraqi English (books 3,4,5) and American English file (books 3,4,5) has been done. The analytical approach of Giaschi (2000) is used in this research. This approach to critical analysis of images by focusing on questions such as; It deals with the main activity of the image, the active and passive role of the person in the image, the type of clothing, direct gaze of the people in the images and the location of the people. The results of the study show that in English language textbooks in Iraq, women are less present compared to men, they usually have a passive role and are less present in social work roles. These findings can guide textbook designers in the future to create more gender-balanced content and images
