Abstract

One of the main parts of language learning is grammar. The correct way of presenting materials and practices in textbooks has an important impact on students' learning. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to describe, compare and examine the methods and approaches of grammar presentation in the textbooks of the first grade of high school in Iraqi schools. The method of data collection in this study was the compilation and analysis of texts. For this purpose, two books English for Iraq (student book) and English for Iraq (activity book) were selected and quantitative and qualitative analysis was done on them. Quantitative analysis includes measuring and comparing the frequency and types of grammar structures and practices in the studied books. Qualitative analysis has also focused on identifying and comparing grammar presenting approaches and methods, highlighting their similarities and differences with traditional methods. This hybrid approach ensures a comprehensive review of textbooks and provides a more detailed understanding of grammar teaching in teaching materials for language teaching in the first grade of high school in Iraq.
