Cobalt-phthalocyanine functionalized polyvinyl amine-coated magnetic nanoparticles have been designed and prepared and used as a heterogeneous, recyclable, and efficient catalyst for oxidation of mercaptans in good yields under alkaline-free conditions. The catalyst could be recovered simply from the reaction mixture using an external magnet and reused at least four times without noticeable loss of catalytic activity.
