In this research Fe3O4 were functionalized by polyacrylicacid grafting. The Fe3O4/PAA core-shell nanoparticles were utilized in electrochemical modification of heterogeneous cation exchange membranes. FTIR analysis proved the formation of carboxylic groups on nanoparticles.SOMimages clearly showed uniform distribution of particles in the bulk of membrane matrix. Membranes' ionic flux, potential and permselectivitywere measured in acidic, alkaline and neutral pH of anodic solutions. Result revealed that membranes' ionic flux in the neutral situation is the lowest. Ionic flux showed a sharp improvement in alkaline and acidic pH respectively. Membranes' potential and permselectivityhave the highest value in neutral pH.These parameters declined in acidic and alkaline anodic solution. Membrane water content declined by increasing nanoparticle percentage in the bulk of membrane.
