A few kinds of new Schiff bases were synthesized by reaction of 2-aminophenol and corresponding synthesized azo compounds 3ae. Further reaction of these Schiff bases 4a-e with transition metal salts as Cu(II) and Zn(II) gave corresponding binuclear complexes 5a-e and 6a-e. The antibacterial activity of prepared complexes was investigated against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. The results for some compounds revealed amoderate to good inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus compared with penicillin zone of inhibition.
