Abstract

Heat pipes, known for their exceptional heat transfer efficiency, are widely used in various industries. This study investigates the optimization of a novel flat-plate Closed-loop Pulsating Heat Pipe (CLPHP) design for enhanced heat transfer efficiency. A unique configuration with 54 interconnected channels (ICs) was developed, allowing flow control via magnetic valves. Ethanol was used as the working fluid at varying filling ratios. The impact of IC configuration on thermal resistance was evaluated. Results indicate that ICs, particularly within the condenser section, significantly reduce thermal resistance by providing efficient shortcut paths for condensed fluid, thus minimizing liquid-vapor interaction. Experiments under various conditions with different IC configurations revealed a significant range of thermal resistance values. The optimal configuration achieved a remarkable 66.6% reduction in thermal resistance, emphasizing the importance of IC optimization for maximizing CLPHP heat transfer capabilities.
