This study considers the relation between self-directed learning skills and the students’ performance in English course. This study is descriptive- survey research. The statistical society contains students in Arak state university and Ashtiyan Islamic Azad University who had selected general English course in the first semester in academic year 2013-2014. The sample includes 300 students obtained according to JerseyMorgan table out of statistical society. Instruments used for obtaining data contain: a. self-directed learning readiness scale and b. researcher-mad English test. To analysis the data, Pearson correlation coefficient and Liner Regression were used. The investigation results show that there is a significant relation between self -directed learning skills and its' subscales (self-management, self-control, and desire to learning) with English language performance.
