Peroxidic anti-malarial drugs have been synthesized from gem-dihydro peroxides that are stable derivatives of ketones and aldehydes. Also, gem-dihydroperoxides are important intermediates in the synthesis of a number of classes of peroxides including tetraoxanes, silateraoxans, spirobisperoxyketals, bis peroxyketals, 1,2,4,5-tetraoxa cycloalkanes [1]. On the other hand, recently, gem-dihydro peroxides have also been employed as reagents for oxidation reactions such as epoxidation of α,β-unsaturated ketones, enantioselective oxidation of 2-substituted 1,4-naphto quinones, oxidation of sulfides and as suitable oxidants in other organic reactions. However, many of methods for synthesis gem-dihydro peroxides have some serious defects [2]. Recently, reactions of ketones and aldehydes with H2O2 in the presence of Lewis acids in organic solvents have been reported [3]. Zeolites are crystalline hydrated alumina silicates of the alkaline earths. The acid site centres can be increased by exchange of monovalent ions with polyvalent cations with the different process [4]. As the importance and high efficiency of zeolites, in this work we have used nano-cadmium hetero poly acid salt/NaY zeolite, as aneco-friendly, effective and reusable catalyst for catalyse peroxidation of aldehydes and ketones to corresponding gem-dihydroperoxides (scheme 1).
