Here in, we report an inexpensive, rapid and simple method to prepare chitosan-based dynamic hydrogels using chitosan and bis-isatoic anhydride as main component (Figure 1).3 The two carbonyl groups at bis-isatoic anhydride can cross-link chitosan through reversible schiff base (also known as imine) linkages to create dynamic hydrogels. Bis-isatoic anhydride is synthesized by reaction of 2 mmol isatoic anhydride with 1 mmol α,α΄- dibromo-p-xylene. The product obtained was collected and swelled in water and centrifuged and then characterized.
