Due to the potent biological activity exhibited by various indole derivatives, there is a continuous demand for novel synthetic methods in this area.1 Bis(indolyl) methanes are gaining prominence in view of their occur- rence in bioactive metabolites of terrestrial and marine origin.2 The azafulvenium salts obtained from electro- philic substitution of indoles with aliphatic or aromatic aldehydes or ketones undergo further substitution to afford bis(indolyl)methanes.3 Bis(indolyl)methanes have been obtained by reactions of indoles with various aldehydes or ketones in the presence of either protic or Lewis acids. Most of the previously reported methods suffer from several setbacks such as requirement of a stoichiometric amount of the Lewis acid, expensive and highly toxic catalysts, long reaction times. Recently, nano magnetic actalyst due to their recyclability and high performance strongly considered.4 In this work, Alkyl disulfamic acid functionalized silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles (ADSAMNPs) has been used as an efficient and reusable solid catalyst in synthesis of bisindolylnethans (Scheme 1)
