Abstract

Pervious concrete pavement is an environmentally friendly product and subjecting massive demands in the urban environ- ment due to flooding in major cities. Understanding the effects of main important parameters, such as aggregate size, cement content, and water–cement ratio, are necessary to understand the behavior of the pervious concrete system. Hence, response surface methodology (RSM) was utilized to estimate the influences of these parameters on the three main output including, compressive strength, permeability, and porosity of mixtures. In this study, the influences of three independent numerical variables including cement content from 350 to 550 kg, water–cement ratio from 0.32 to 0.38, and aggregate size between 2.83 mm and 8.00 mm, all at three levels, were calculated over the central composite design (CCD). As it is shown in this paper, a quadratic model is efficiently fixed to the experimental data. Also, the effects of aggregate size and cement content variation are more drastic than the effect of water–cement ratio on the response performance of the pervious concrete and, 0.35 water–cement ratio was associated with maximum strength value.
